For wealth advisors and family offices

Relationship coaching for the families you serve

Some of the hardest moments in a client relationship aren't about the portfolio. Pivot offers individuals, couples, and families confidential relationship coaching that stays entirely separate from their financial planning.

Why advisors mention Pivot

Help for what isn't in the portfolio

A credible place to point clients

When the issue in the room is a relationship, not a portfolio, you have somewhere trustworthy to mention.

You stay in your lane

You don't have to play counselor, and we never touch your work.

A coach for every person

Each family member has their own coach and advocate, so no one wonders whose side we're on.

Money is part of the conversation

We talk about money, directly

Money is one of the most common sources of conflict for couples and families, and we don't skirt around it. We help partners and family members get on the same page: more aligned, more transparent, and able to talk about money without it becoming a fight.

What they decide to do with their money stays between them and their advisor. We never give financial, tax, legal, or investment advice.

When mentioning Pivot may help

You often see it before anyone else does

A family meeting that quietly derails. A spouse who won't engage. Siblings who can't be in the same room. These are the situations where families most often come to us.

Money conflict between partners

Couples who can't talk about money without fighting. We help them get aligned and honest with each other; the financial decisions stay with them and their advisor.

Separation or divorce

Helping clients part ways with dignity and less collateral damage.

Family business transitions

When old family roles get in the way of new ones.

Next-generation dynamics

Adult children, distance, or strained trust between generations.

Major life changes

The relational pressure that can follow an inheritance or a big transition.

Grief and loss

Families reorganizing after the death of a parent or spouse.

Hard family conversations

When old hurts make it hard for a family to talk openly about the future.

High-pressure careers

Leaders whose relationships at home are paying for success at work.

How it works

What this work looks like

Two families who came to us

An inheritance plan that met resistance

A couple in their sixties decided to change how they planned to divide their estate between their two adult children. Their eldest son had expected a specific inheritance and reacted with hostility, and family relationships began to fracture.

The family came to Pivot, and each member worked with their own coach. The son explored the fear, resentment, and identity he had tied to money. The parents learned to share their intentions clearly, without guilt. The family was able to talk about their plans together, and the relationships held.

A breakdown in trust after a loss

After their father died, three adult siblings learned he had made significant undisclosed gifts to one of them over the previous decade. Two felt excluded and furious; the third felt ashamed and defensive.

The siblings came to Pivot, each with their own coach so no single voice dominated. Over several sessions they moved past the initial crisis toward an honest conversation about what each of them needed. Trust wasn't fully restored right away, but they could communicate again and move forward together.

How the work is structured

Private, in person, and focused

For the families advisors serve, we work in concentrated two-day intensives rather than weekly sessions, so real progress happens in days, not months.

Start here

Individual intensive

Two private days, one-on-one with a Pivot coach, focused on the patterns driving what's happening at home and at work.

Or start here

Couples intensive

Two private days for a couple, with a dedicated coach for each partner, working individually and together.

Then, if needed

Family intensive

Once the individual or couple has done their own work, they decide whether bringing in the family would help. Two days, with a coach for each family member.

We come to your clients wherever they live, or meet in a private setting in the Bay Area. Coaching fees don't include travel or venue costs.

Who your clients would work with

For compliance teams

Clear lines, by design.

Mentioning us to a client is informal, the same as suggesting a good estate attorney or family mediator.

No referral fees

No fees, payments, or anything of value are exchanged in either direction, now or in the future.

No client data shared

Advisors don't share any client information with us. Clients contact us directly, on their own terms.

No financial advice

We help partners communicate about money, but we never give financial, tax, legal, or investment advice.

No formal arrangement

There's no contract or agreement between us and your firm.

If your compliance team has questions, we're glad to speak with them directly.

Questions advisors ask

What if only one family member is ready?

We start with whoever is ready. One person changing their own patterns often shifts the whole family, and others can join when the time is right.

Will you share what my client discusses?

No. We don't report back to advisors. Your client decides what, if anything, to share with you, and we're only in touch with you if they ask us to be.

Do you work with clients outside the Bay Area?

Yes. Intensives are held in person, either in a private setting in the Bay Area or wherever the client lives. We travel to them.
